Up Coming Mini Meets

Fall Mini Meet 2011

The Division One Fall mini-meet will be hosted by Lee Temple and the Willamette Cascade Model Railroad Club. The meet will be held on October 8, 2011. The meet will be held at the Emerald People's Utility District Corporate Headquarters at 33733 Seavey Loop Road (near 30th Avenue Exit to Lane Community College). The Doors will open at 8:00 AM for coffee and donuts, clinics will start at 9:00 AM. We will have a full slate of clinics, model railroads to tour and there will be NMRA judging for NMRA merit awards and the Achievement Program for those that are interested. You must be an NMRA member to have models judged in these sanctioned events. You DO NOT have to be an NMRA member to enter a model or to vote in the Most Popular Model Contest. In either contest you can bring buildings, dioramas, freight cars, engines, etc. so bring something that you can enter.

Lunch will be provided on site by Temple's Trains & Things and we hope you will mark your calendars for this event. We usually have people from as far north as Albany, as far south as Medford, as well as people from the Oregon Coast representing various parts of the 1st Division of the Pacific Northwest Region of the National Model Railroad Association.

The Spring mini-meet was hosted by Nick Lehrbach and Dirk Kruysman and was held on April 30, 2011 in the Douglas County Library. The meet was filled with clinics ranging from making trees to DCC decoder installation to Railroad graffiti as an art form. There were lots of door prizes and lively conversations about Railroading/Model Railroading.
Favorite Model Contest Winners: Nick Lehrbach - Locomotive Division, Scott Rouse and Fred Smith - Rolling Stock Division, Dean Seehawer - Structure Division, Dean Seehawer and Sid Jack - Miscellaneous Division and Fred Smith - Railroad Photography Division.
Fred Smith also entered a flat car with load for AP judging. He earned his merit award and also a share in the Favorite Model - Best Of Show Award.
Get your share of the spot light by entering the Favorite Model Contest at the Fall mini-meet.

A Call For Volunteers!

Currently Division 1 is looking for volunteers to fill some key positions in our organization.

We are in need of a person to fill the Membership chair position. We all know how important it is to recruit new members and to keep the members we already have. We need someone with innovative ideas to fill this position.

We are also in need of an Education chair person. Education is a vital part of the modeling experience. We need someone who is willing to share their modeling experiences and to encourage others to do the same.

Volunteering to help your division can be a rewarding experience and can earn you AP points. If you or any one you know are interested in either of these two positions or would like to help our division in other ways please contact one of the board members listed above.
